An Excellent Neurosurgeon

Looking for a neurosurgeon with excellent experience, specializing in cavernomas, who is willing to discuss all options and explain unique medical details?

Check out Dr. Bernard Bendok from Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ. I had a walnut-sized cavernoma in my right temporal lobe that had hemorrhaged multiple times. They did all kinds of great tests and scans to show exactly what was wrong, to determine which side of my brain controls speech, language, etc. They give fantastic detailed medical results in paper form and the MRI images are available to view online.

I had brain surgery about 2 weeks ago, on June 6. I had one week of pain and I now feel completely back to my normal self - I am absolutely shocked and so happy! I haven’t had any seizures yet since surgery - they may totally be gone!

Another really interesting thing I was given at Mayo Clinic - I got a 3D model of my cavernoma to keep, and got to “walk through my brain” with special glasses on - 3D video game style. I learned so much through my time at Mayo and there’s absolutely no where else I would rather be.

Wow!! Sounds like an awesome experience. Thanks for sharing your success story!
Diagnosed September '09 with one CM centered in the right insular cortex/basal ganglia. Saw many, many doctors and had surgery 12/10/10 with Dr. Spetzler. I am thrilled to have this bleeding thing out of my head even though I suffered a stroke during surgery. Have had/ continue to make an amazing recovery.
